KITCHEN DESIGN IDEA #1STRIPPING IT BACK WITH RAW TIMBER
If you are planning on setting up shop for a while, raw timber is a great investment because it goes with just about everything! A feature colour on your counter tops, colourful appliances, floral wall decor... almost anything can be complemented by raw timber. Victorian Ash or White Oak are a popular timber choice, featuring unpolished edges to give a natural finish. In 2018, the big kitchen design idea is to use raw timber not just as counter tops but also for cupboards, drawer faces and splash backs to give your kitchen style a fresh look and feel. There is a catch with this kitchen design idea, quality finishes is key for a lasting effect, that’s where Davies Construction can come into the scene.
KITCHEN DESIGN IDEA #2GO FOR GOLD
Gold tones are making a statement this year paired with other materials such as timbers, concrete and marble for a kitchen style that will not be forgotten quickly! A gold sink, tap or handles are the way to go if you want a more subtle brass tone, however the bolder kitchen design might sport gold kitchen doors. Sounds crazy right? But if fitted correctly and using quality materials, it can be the green envy of your friends.
KITCHEN DESIGN IDEA #3THE KHAKHI TREND
Speaking of being green with envy, kitchens are now joining in on the khaki trend. Not only are we now wearing khaki everywhere in the form of winter coats, pants and shirts, we are now dressing our kitchens in the same colour tones. Matchy matchy! Make a statement with kitchen doors, light shades or if you're feeling like you need an extra punch of calmness in your kitchen space, maybe even splashback tiles! Like we said, it brings a sense of calmness to a space and looks great with any finishes, but our favourite colour to match the new khaki trend is white, timber and white marble. Daring but delicious when pulled off with the right carpenter.
KITCHEN DESIGN IDEA #4OUR LAST TOP KITCHEN DESIGN TREND FOR 2018
Drum roll…it’s printed tiles! And no, we are definitely not heading back into the 50’s but rather a more modern era of kitchen design. Printed lino, tiles and splash backs are making a comeback and they look GREAT! You either love it or hate it, but we are fans.
