Carpenter
The Carpenters at our company are the best in the business. You will work in diverse settings to produce unique homes. As a carpenter, you need great hand skills and an excellent eye for detail. You also need a good knowledge of timber properties and other carpentry materials. You love your physical hands-on work and are fully supportive of the supervisor. Once a plan is in place, you can work with little supervision to achieve the outcome. The goal is to contribute to the construction of strong and long-lasting buildings.
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR...
- Delivering precision, quality work, shaping and cut materials to prescribed measurements;
- Dealing with subcontractor on your projects;
- PO's for miscellaneous items;
- Doing daily logs and helping your supervisor ensure they are done every day;
- Fill in your time clock daily with the correct tags (timesheet policy);
- Overall safety on each of your projects;
- Understanding the project schedule and its tracking process;
- Standing your ground with the expectations of quality from subs and suppliers;
- Juggling personalities and different types of people get the best out of them- mainly subs;
- Keeping in mind and understanding of change orders/variation on your project;
- Logging warranties when they arise;
- Checking with your supervisor to ensure the clients have been updated once a week;
- Give feedback if plans are missing details or not working so we can draw them better on the next project;
- Uphold the founders values;
- Study, understand, and interpret building plans;
- Help supervisor ensure site photos for every construction stage are uploaded;
- Ensuring all tools are tagged and tested that are being used on the site;
- Looking out for all company gear to ensure it is looked after and not lost;
- Follow and achieve the company quality assurance checklists;
- Ensure all your tools are sharp, well maintained and ready for use;
- Help your supervisor by asking questions and thinking a few weeks ahead;
- Ensure you are using the right tool for the right job;
- Try your hardest to think about what you are doing to minimise mistakes and re-work;
- Own a mistake if you make one and do not try to hide it;
- Ensure you have all the materials you need the day before, so the next day you have everything;
- Communicating clearly to teammates if you have to hand over a task/job before it 100% complete;
- Using cutting and assembly lines when fitting materials for productivity;
- All-rounder for high-end carpenter work - formwork, concrete, framing floors, framing walls, framing roofs, windows, and doors, wrapping, cladding, fit-out, scaffolding, w welding non-structural, etc.;
- Read up on new materials, installation techniques, and manuals;
- Providing your own full tool kit - (Recommended tool kit list);
- Providing your own work vertical or trailer that can carry up to 6.0m timber or plank;
- Using your own phone for work calls and use of the company apps.
